Canadian Alternative Investment Forum
Founded in 2011, CAIF is Canada’s premier alternative investment conference. Known for creating an agenda that offers diverse content and uncorrelated niche investment themes, CAIF’s selected speakers always deliver current and relevant information. Our delegates include active allocators, investment managers and service providers.

CAIF 2025 brought together a dynamic blend of expertise, forward-looking strategies, and spirited debate across the private markets landscape.
The day began with a timely keynote address from Forum Asset Management’s Richard Abboud entitled Investing in Canada’s Potential Through the Noise.
The morning’s Candid Conversations followed, with a deep dive into the foundational characteristics that make secondaries a core allocation, followed by an exploration of Canadian real estate through the lens of the evolving credit cycle. Speakers then examined the unique positioning of crossover funds, highlighting the advantages of blending public and private investment approaches.
A reflection on 40 years of private market experience provided a historical lens on portfolio construction and the rise of evergreen structures, while a private credit panel showcased the asset class’s growing diversity and adaptability.
In a lively and thought-provoking debate, panelists tackled the long-standing question of whether active management delivers sufficient value to justify its cost—offering compelling perspectives on both sides.
The day concluded with two forward-thinking discussions: the maturation of impact investing and the transformative role of AI in startups and venture capital—both signalling where innovation and capital are heading next.
