Against a backdrop of global transition, CAIF 2026 offered a day of insight, innovation, and lively debate across the forces reshaping private markets.
The day opened with a Keynote from Scott Morrison of Wealhouse Capital Management, setting the stage with a look at the global turning points shaping today’s investment landscape. From there, the day’s candid conversations and panel discussions explored the evolving role of alternative assets and portfolio construction in a changing environment.
Sessions throughout the morning examined themes such as private credit secondaries, carbon as an emerging asset class, and the continued innovation within private equity. Attendees also gained perspective on niche real asset strategies, including self-storage and student housing, and how these sectors can function within a diversified portfolio.
The afternoon shifted to broader market dynamics, beginning with a panel on private mortgage lending in Canada, followed by a lively debate on the role of cryptocurrencies as a strategic investment. Later discussions explored traditional safe havens like gold and precious metals, alongside practical insights into manager selection—highlighting the signals, risks, and opportunities that matter most.
With dedicated networking breaks woven throughout the day, CAIF once again delivered a balanced mix of thought leadership, practical insight, and meaningful connection to the alternative investment community.
