Reinventing the 2020 Canadian Alternative Investment Forum as a virtual event was certainly a learning experience, but we are delighted to announce that our two-day conference was very successful. The Zoom platform allowed us to reach many more members of the global alternative investment community and the increased number of participants made for a very robust experience. As always, more than half of the conference’s attendees were sophisticated active allocators who always appreciate CAIF for its ability to connect and educate people by showcasing the industry’s top speakers and opportunities.
Economist David Rosenberg kicked off the first day with a Keynote address during which he shared his always sought-after views on and forecasts for these rather complex times. Day two opened with Westcourt Capital’s David Kaufman’s thoughtful and interesting Keynote on portfolio construction.
Each day featured two Candid Conversations, in-depth interviews covering topics such as global fixed income, an alternative asset investor’s story, ESG factor analysis and global FX futures. Panel presentations covered cross border real estate, structured credit and views from a group of single family office investors. A very popular and well-received Spotlight panel focused on farmland as an emerging asset class.
Response been very positive about the both the conference’s content and Introduction Capital’s ability to present such a significant amount of timely and compelling material via a virtual format. Many delegates joined the virtual networking sessions at the end of each day and appreciated this modified opportunity to connect with their peers.
We look forward to continuing to share alternative investment information with our community through future virtual events and, eventually, at our in-person 10th Anniversary Canadian Alternative Investment Forum.
